Benjamin holds degrees from Louisiana College and the University of Denver. With the Louisiana College Opera Theater, he portrayed Antonio (The Marriage of Figaro), Dr. Gregg (Gallantry), Vogelsang (The Impresario), and Bob (The Old Maid and the Thief). After joining the University of Denver’s Lamont Opera Theater in 2022, Benjamin starred as The Pilot (The Little Prince) in 2023 and Demetrius (A Midsummer Night’s Dream) in 2024. Most recently, Benjamin sang Danilo (Die lustige Witwe) and Baron de Pictordu (Viardot’s Cendrillon) with Ball State Opera Theater.
In 2023, he made his European debut as Papageno (Die Zauberflöte) with Berlin Opernfest. Benjamin returned to Europe in 2024 to sing Conte (Le nozze di Figaro) at the historic Estates Theater with Prague Summer Nights and returned to Berlin Opernfest to reprise the role.
In addition to stage experience, Benjamin has performed numerous times in concert. In 2014, he joined Seicento Baroque Ensemble where he performed multiple concerts as a chorus member including the Western Hemisphere premiere of Michel Richard de Lalande’s Dies Irae. Benjamin was also featured as a soloist in a madrigal concert presenting works by Adriano Banchieri. He was a soloist and founding member of SoundCity Singers of Seattle, WA in 2019. Benjain was set to appear with SoundCity Singers for several engagements throughout 2020, including a performance with Kamala Sankaram at the Opera America 50th Anniversary conference, but these were canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic. In 2023, Benjamin sang as the soloist in Vaughn Williams’ Five Mystical Songs and covered the solo for a performance of the composer’s Dona Nobis Pacem.
